From a young age, children need a lot of opportunities for physical activity, both for good health and for skill-building. Children need lots of open space to develop their gross motor skills—learning to use the large muscles in their legs, arms, and trunk to run, jump, throw, catch, and kick.
For this reason, we were very aware when designing our Learning Centre that we needed to include a large gym facility that can be used in a variety of ways. Our Multipurpose Gym is used by all of the children in our care – from babies up to afterschool. We use the gym for a variety of different activities:
